I am looking for a Prenatal Yoga class. Will I find what I am looking for in LITTLEseed™ In Me?
While I have trained in yoga and have completed specialty training in prenatal techniques, the many positions and poses incorporated in the LITTLEseed™ In Me classes are utilized for their physical benefits alone. Our classes do not delve into the spiritual component of yoga. The focus is purely on your physical, mental and emotional relaxation during pregnancy and preparation for labor as well as, of course, encouraging your bond with baby.
We offer a nice blend of lightly challenging, strengthening, and gentle stretching to help prepare your body for the magnificent transition it is experiencing. We also offer necessary and beneficial relaxation tools from our two natural childbirths, one having been a hospital birth and, the other, a home birth, and from our knowledge and experience as long term Bradley Method® instructors http://www.bradleybirth.com/. Class ends with relaxation time to LITTLEseed™ Program instrumental music.
I heard there is singing involved in the LITTEseed™ AND Me and LITTLEbean™ & Me classes. Yikes! What if I don’t sing?
You don’t have to sing! Our instructor sings live to songs written just for our program and does so to sweet, tender and fun instrumental background. We invite you to join her in song, to lip sync or just to listen.
The music we weave in and out of our classes is there to soothe, to allow us to laugh, and to discover and incorporate play with baby. Our songs are paired with specific movements which work on different parts of Mama’s and baby’s bodies. They also offer different sequences between the two class levels to meet changing abilities for Mama and baby/crawler/toddler.
I can’t imagine getting fit while with my baby. What if my baby cries? Or crawls all over the place? What if my toddler chooses not to participate?
Our postnatal classes are designed for adjusting to your new life as a mother/baby/crawler/toddler team. We offer postures and sequences to benefit just you, your baby and then the both of you through different sections of our class.
Yes, your baby may cry. Your baby may need to be fed or to have a diaper change. You are welcome to stop, let your mommy expertise step in while you do what you need to do, and then come back into our practice again. This is your new life with baby and this is a safe place to let that happen, whatever both your needs.
We do find many of our sequences and methods of play entice our babies to participate intently, to gurgle, to squeal and even to full belly laugh and kick happily as they grow. So, give it a shot and and trust that you will find your groove together!
Our crawlers/toddlers do what they do best. Crawl and toddle! They also spend a lot of time socializing and discovering their surroundings and one another. Just as we respect our own bodies and abilities, we do the same for our crawlers/toddlers and never ever force them in and out of postures. We draw them in with our songs and we enjoy very much when they imitate and even help Mama with surprise, fun, brilliant modifications to her practice!
Most importantly, they watch us and listen! This is a place to celebrate theirs and our feats! We invite, we encourage and we model!
How do I access LITTLEseed™ Program instrumentals and songs?
In the works!
Is there a spiritual component to these classes?
No, there isn’t.
While many of our fitness movements and sequences are variations on yoga postures, we do not take for granted the important component of Buddhism and Hinduism teachings within an authentic practice of yoga. We feel strongly that your spiritual journey, especially a sincere one, is a personal walk between you and your maker. Because we feel there is truth to the saying, “Knock and the door shall be opened,” our ties to yoga end at the physical level. We do not purport to open any doors to a spiritual realm for you.
Rather, our classes are rooted in the significance of mother-to-be discovery and mother and baby celebration. We simply offer the space for this transformation to take place on your prenatal/postnatal journey. In the postnatal life, enjoy the enhancement of that bond while taking opportunities to continue to exercise with your little one outside the womb. Together, you can continue to stretch, strengthen and do so with us through opportunities to sing, dance and play!
I have heard a lot about your classes from my colleagues and would like to share what you do with my clients. Outside of these descriptions, what is the best way for me to describe what takes place in these classes?
